Primary Care at Jefferson Regional
For your annual checkup and your annual flu shot, for a good remedy for a sore throat and good advice for shedding a few pounds, your family doctor is there for you.
At Jefferson Regional, we have more than 100 reasons why you should put your trust in your family doctor. That’s how many primary care physicians, or PCPs, are conveniently located close to your home and ready to care for you and your family.
Besides providing diagnosis and treatment of common illnesses and medical conditions, primary care physicians take on several other important roles. They refer their patients to specialists and provide ongoing care if they have a condition that requires prolonged treatment and monitoring, such as hypertension and diabetes.
Even when their patients are hospitalized, their PCPs continue to play an important role, maintaining a constant level of care on which patients and their families rely. They also keep a record of their patients’ medical and family history, allergies and medications.
Choosing a Primary Care Physician
When you are choosing a family doctor, you deserve the best physician for your needs. Here are some questions to ask:
- What office hours and locations are available?
- Is the primary care physician affiliated with Jefferson Regional Medical Center if I require hospitalization?
- Does the physician accept my health insurance plan?
- Who replaces the doctor when he or she is unavailable?
- Is the physician experienced and well trained?
