Program for Reversing Heart Disease is a comprehensive lifestyle modification
program designed to assist participants in the management of heart disease
by addressing key risk factors associated with its onset and progression.
Through healthy lifestyle modification, the Ornish Program teaches participants

NEW SESSIONS OF DEAN ORNISH PROGRAM FORMINGThe Dr. Dean Ornish Program for Reversing Heart Disease is designed to assist participants in the management of heart disease by addressing key risk factors associated with its onset and progression. Through healthy lifestyle modification, the Ornish Program teaches participants how to improve their health and well being to live longer and healthier lives.A new session of the program will be offered at Jefferson Regional Wellness Center, 712 Clairton Blvd., Pleasant Hills, beginning on Monday, Aug. 25, from 5 to 9 p.m. and continuing on Mondays and Wednesdays. Another afternoon session of the program will be held in the Cardiac Rehab department, 2nd floor, Jefferson Regional Medical Center, 565 Coal Valley Road, Jefferson Hills, on Tuesday, Sept. 9, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and continuing on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Ornish Advantage, a six-week course that introduces participants to the Dean Ornish program and emphasizes moderate exercise, stress management and good nutrition, will begin on Wednesday, Aug. 13 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Cardiac Rehab department at the Medical Center. Preregistration is required for these programs. Call 1-888-ORNISH4U (1-888-676-4744) to register and verify insurance coverage. “A Taste of Ornish” Open House will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 10 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Jefferson Room, James Bibro Pavilion, on the Medical Center campus. This event will give participants an opportunity to experience and sample the four components of the Ornish Program – nutrition, stress management, exercise and group support. The program’s professional team of physicians, dietitians and health specialists will answer questions and past program participants will share their “success stories.” There will be a cooking demonstration and free Ornish-friendly food samples.
