New Directors Appointed

Six employees recently accepted new leadership roles at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.

Kimberley Finnerty RN, MSN is director, Patient Care Specialty Services, with clinical oversight of the Inpatient Rehabilitation Program, Stroke Care Program, and Observation Unit. She previously was manager of the rehab, stroke care and observation units at Jefferson Regional and played a key role in the planning and development of a Neuro Stroke Unit and obtaining Joint Commission Specialty Certification for the Stroke Unit in February, 2012.

Finnerty earned a Master of Science degree in nursing administration at the University of Pittsburgh and Bachelor of Science in nursing at Duquesne University. She is a member of Southwestern Pennsylvania Organization of Nurse Leaders and was a past Cameos of Caring® awardee. She previously worked at UPMC St. Margaret, where she was unit director of the Medical-Surgical Telemetry Unit, and at UPMC Shadyside, where she was acting unit director and nursing support program coordinator/clinician and a medical/surgical ICU staff nurse.

Chris Galvin is the director of Jefferson Regional Medical Center Community Radiology Centers. She is responsible for the operations of eight diagnostic facilities that include the services of CT, x-ray, MRI, ultrasound, women’s diagnostic testing, cardiology procedures and lab draw. She also ensures the accuracy and timeliness of results and a positive customer experience, and is responsible for the policies and compliance of governmental regulations. Currently studying for her Bachelor of Science degree at Carlow University, she is certified in accounting and has worked in healthcare management for more than 23 years.

Wendy Hurt-Gerlach is the director of the Wound Care & Hyperbaric Center at Jefferson Regional. She is responsible for the overall implementation, ongoing management and strategic growth of the program, including budgeting, revenue, cost management, reimbursement, quality management, performance improvement and human resource management.

 Hurt-Gerlach joined the Jefferson Regional team in September 2010 as practice manager for E. Douglas Newton, MD.  She has more than 20 years of healthcare experience, including Quest Diagnostic Laboratory, Pittsburgh Pediatric Research, and Southwestern Ambulatory Surgery Center, where she was materials manager and office manager. Her background includes experience in credentialing, billing, reimbursement, revenue, and cost management.

Renee Holtzman was promoted from manager, Human Resources Services, to director, Human Resources. She previously held positions at Jefferson Regional of senior human resources specialist, human resources specialist, personnel representative/generalist and benefits assistant.

In her new position, she reports to the senior vice president and chief human resources officer and is responsible for directing employment, compensation, employee/labor relations, HRIS, performance management and employee records to advance the strategic goals and priorities of Jefferson Regional Medical Center.

Holtzman earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration at Edinboro University. She is a Certified Compensation Professional through World at Work and is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management and Pittsburgh Human Resources Association.

Steven Kelly is director, physician practices and planning at Jefferson Regional, where he oversees and leads the Physician Integration Services Division. He is responsible for organizing and expanding partnered practices and promoting various physician models.  His duties include recruitment, practice acquisition and physician contracting; practice operations, standardized electronic medical record system, insurer relations and contracting, and quality assurance.

He previously worked at Jefferson Regional as manager, outpatient planning and development, and project manager, facilities and construction. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Planning and Administration from Pennsylvania State University and Master of Public Management degree in Health Systems Management with highest honors at Carnegie Mellon University.

He joined Jefferson Regional from UPMC South Side, where he was senior vice president, planning and development.

Teresa Riskey, RPh, is the director of pharmacy. She has a Master in Business Administration degree from Waynesburg University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy from Duquesne University. She has more than 22 years of pharmacy experience at Jefferson Regional, where she has been interim director of pharmacy, pharmacy operations manager, staff pharmacist and pharmacy intern. Riskey is responsible for the planning, organizing, coordination and control of clinical, operational and financial aspects of the pharmacy at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.
