Jefferson Regional to Sponsor Inagural Community 5K Run/Walk in Boston, Elizabeth Township

Participants Encouraged to 'Take a Healthy Walk or Run' at the April 16th Event; Online Registration Now Open

Jefferson Hills, PA - March 15, 2011

The community is invited to take a healthy run or walk at the inaugural Dead Man’s Hollow Half-Marathon and 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, April 16 at Boston Ballfield Park, 1902 Donner St., Elizabeth Township. The half-marathon event starts at 9 a.m. followed by the 5K Run/Walk at 9:25 a.m., along the “Rails to Trails” Yough River Trail course.

Jefferson Regional Medical Center is the Presenting Sponsor of the event, which will support maintenance of the Yough River Trail. 

Participants will receive a free souvenir T-shirt with registration by April 2; after April 2, T-shirts will be provided while supplies last.

Registration fees are: Half Marathon – $40 in advance, $45 on race day; 5K Run/Walk –  $20 in advance, $25 on race day. 

Awards will be presented by Age Groups, Top 3 Overall, and Top Masters, male and female. Aid stations will be located every 1.25 miles with basic first aid, water, energy gels and Gatorade. Races will take place rain or shine; there is no deferred date. Post-race activities at the field will include food, fun and music.  

Race logistics will be provided by Elite Runners & Walkers at www.eliterunners.com. The races will be Championchip timed, recorded and posted by The Runner’s High at www.runhigh.com
