Jefferson Regional Medical Center has earned the rating of “Best in the Pittsburgh region for cardiac care, cardiology, and coronary intervention,” according to the latest study announced by HealthGrades, the leading independent healthcare ratings organization.

The achievement is one of many for The Heart Institute at Jefferson Regional Medical Center, where specialists have provided comprehensive, state-of-the-art cardiac care close to home since it first opened its doors nearly 10 years ago. The Heart Institute has grown to be a world-class, award-winning center where nearly 4,000 open-heart procedures – many of them complex cases – and more than 21,000 cardiac catheterizations have been performed.

The HealthGrades study ranked Jefferson Regional among the top 5 percent in the nation for cardiac services, cardiac surgery, coronary interventional procedures, and treatment of stroke. Nearly 5,000 hospitals nationwide were included in this study, which examined mortality rates and complication rates from government data from 2007, 2008 and 2009.
