Bone Density (DEXA)

A common use of a DEXA scan is to determine whether you have osteoporosis or are at risk of osteoporosis. A bone density test uses X-rays to measure how many grams of calcium and other bone minerals are packed into a segment of bone. A bone density test is a fairly accurate predictor of your risk of fracture. The test is pain free and requires you to lie on your back while the imager produces the measurement which takes approximately 10 minutes.

Breast MRI

A Breast MRI is a very sensitive type of imaging that provides a more detailed view of the area being scanned. If a lump or mass is detected following a mammogram, a breast MRI can help the doctor closely identify the findings.

Breast Ultrasound

Breast ultrasounds are a noninvasive procedure that is used to assess the breasts. Ultrasound technology allows radiologists to have another visualization of the breast tissue and blood flow to areas inside the breasts.  Breast Ultrasounds are often used along with mammography.

Cardiac CT

CT Scan

* 64-Slice CT Scan

CT stands for Computed Tomography and combines a series of advanced X-ray views. CT images are different from X-rays by showing the body in cross sections. The CT scanner takes several 'slices' to build up a three-dimensional image of the area scanned. These images can then be viewed and formatted by the computer to show different planes of the body. A CT scan can quickly identify internal injuries and complex matters of the brain. CT scans produce optimal visualization of the internal body structures for our radiologists to carefully interpret.

An electrocardiogram (EKG) is a test that measures the electrical activity of the heartbeat. With each beat, an electrical impulse (or "wave") travels through the heart. This wave causes the muscle to squeeze and pump blood from the heart. An EKG gives two major kinds of information. First, by measuring time intervals on the machine, a doctor can determine how long the electrical wave takes to pass through the heart. Second, by measuring the amount of electrical activity passing through the heart muscle, a cardiologist may be able to find out if parts of the heart are too large or overworked.

Holter Monitor

* Digital

Digital mammography is a mammography system in which the X-ray film is replaced by solid-state detectors that convert X-rays into electrical signals. These detectors are similar to those found in digital cameras. The electrical signals are used to produce images of the breast that can be seen on a computer screen or printed on special film.

MRI (Open)

MRI stands for Magnetic Resonance Imaging, a method used to visualize internal organs and obtain diagnostic information. An MRI scan is a non-invasive procedure and is one of the most accurate and detailed diagnostic imaging techniques available. The procedure is painless and patients won't see or feel anything during the exam. A faint knocking sound will be heard by the patient which is the imaging process in operation. The Open MRI is perfect for patients who experience claustrophobia.

MRI (Highfield)

The High Field MRI is designed to maximize our patients experience by offering a wide bore design that reduces acoustic noise and is comforting for those with claustrophobic concerns. The High Field MRI provides a completely open environment and the minimal gradient vibration enables faster, more accurate diagnosis. We are proud to offer our patients multiple 1.5 T. High Field MRIs that allow for exceptional comfort and high quality images. Jefferson Regional's High Field MRI has one of the largest openings in the industry to accommodate patients of all sizes.

Nuclear Medicine/Stress Test

Nuclear medicine imaging is unique, because it provides doctors with information about both structure and function. It is a way to gather medical information that would otherwise be unavailable, require surgery, or necessitate more diagnostic tests. Nuclear medicine imaging procedures often identify abnormalities very early in the progress of a disease, long before many medical problems are apparent with other diagnostic tests. Nuclear medicine uses very small amounts of radioactive materials (radiopharmaceuticals) to diagnose and treat disease.

Pelvic Ultrasound

Pulmonary Function

Pulmonary function tests are a group of tests that measure how well the lungs take in and release air and how well they move gases such as oxygen from the atmosphere into the body's circulation. Pulmonary function tests can help a doctor diagnose a range of respiratory diseases which might not otherwise be obvious to the doctor or the patient. The tests are important since many kinds of lung problems can be successfully treated if detected early. The tests are also used to measure how a lung disease is progressing, and how serious the lung disease has become. Pulmonary function tests also can be used to assess how a patient is responding to different treatments.

Sleep Lab

Stereotactic Biopsy

Ultrasound is a method of dynamically imaging the patient's body through the use of high-frequency sound waves. A microphone-like instrument, called a transducer, is scanned over the skin. A special gel is placed on the skin to improve the contact of the transducer and the sound waves are recorded and displayed as a visual image. Because no ionizing radiation (X-ray) is involved, ultrasound is an extremely safe imaging modality. Ultrasound imaging is based on the same principles involved in the sonar used by ships at sea. As the sound passes through the body, echoes are produced that can be used to identify how far away an object is, how large it is, its shape and its consistency (fluid, solid or mixed). The ultrasound transducer functions as both a generator of sound (like a speaker) and a detector (like a microphone). The echoes are instantly measured and displayed by a computer, which in turn creates a real-time picture on the monitor.

Urine and Stool Collection

Vascular Ultrasound

Virtual Colonoscopy

* All locations offer walk-in x-rays

A digital X-ray is a quick and painless test that produces images of the structures inside your body - particularly your bones. X-ray beams can pass through your body, but they are absorbed in different amounts depending on the density of the material they pass through. X-rays are used for many purposes; including determining if a bone is broken, seeing whether an internal organ is infected, and when looking for cancer. Jefferson Regional offers convenient walk-in digital X-ray services for our patients.
