The Health for Her initiative at Jefferson Regional Medical Center will kick off the New Year with three free community programs of interest to women. The free programs will be held in the Jefferson Room in the James Bibro Pavilion on the Medical Center campus, 565 Coal Valley Road, Jefferson Hills.
Space is limited and registration is required by calling Community Programs at 412-469-7100. The schedule is as follows:
- “New Year – New You,” panel discussion on healthy, successful aging, with panel moderator Nupur Dashottar, MD, medical director, Health for Her, on Jan. 25, 5 to 7 p.m.
- “All About Eve: Unique Aspects of Women in Heart Disease,” with speaker Amish Mehta, MD, cardiologist, discussing how changes in estrogen impact risk of heart disease, differences in signs and symptoms of heart disease in women, and “belly fat” as a risk of heart disease in post-menopausal women. Feb. 15, 5 to 7 p.m.
- “Red Wine, Chocolate and Your Heart,” program focuses on the benefits of red wine and chocolate for heart health, dietary modifications that may promote heart health and surgical approaches to improving heart health. Feb. 23, 5 to 7 p.m.
The Health for Her program at Jefferson Regional is dedicated to providing free women’s health education programs to empower women with expert medical information so they can play a more active role with their physician in deciding which health care decisions are right for them.
