Thomas P. Timcho, president and CEO of Jefferson Regional Medical Center, is the recipient of a 2009 Diamond Award from the Pittsburgh Business Times as CEO of the Year for Non-Profit Organizations.
During ceremonies held April 22 in Pittsburgh, Timcho accepted the Diamond Award from Alan Roberts, publisher of the Pittsburgh Business Times.Winners were chosen by an independent panel of judges and were recognized in three categories: large for-profit companies, small/medium for-profit companies and non-profits.
Timcho was appointed president and CEO of Jefferson Regional Medical Center in 2003 after serving as the executive vice president and chief operating officer and the senior vice president and chief financial officer for the organization.
He has held several other healthcare leadership positions, including various executive positions at UPMC (1994-1999), and executive vice president and chief financial officer at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh (1982-1994). Prior to Children’s he was the executive in charge of the Health Care Consulting Division at Ernst & Young. His service as a first lieutenant with the Army included a tour of duty in South Vietnam.
He earned Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration degrees at the University of Pittsburgh. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. His professional affiliations include memberships in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and Healthcare Financial Management Association Western Pennsylvania Chapter (past president).
In February, 2007, Timcho was the only hospital executive in the Pittsburgh area to receive the American College of Healthcare Executives Senior-Level Healthcare Executive Regent’s Award, which recognizes ACHE affiliates who have contributed significantly toward the advancement of healthcare management excellence.
Richard F. Collins, Jr., MD, then chairman of the Medical Center’s board of directors, said it is easy to understand why ACHE chose Timcho for this prestigious award. “Since the appointment of Mr. Timcho as president and CEO of Jefferson Regional Medical Center in 2003, the medical center has made great strides both clinically and fiscally. Mr. Timcho’s leadership style has enabled the management team to function at the highest possible level. His integrity and pursuit of clinical excellence have set standards of which the board and community can be proud.”
