About the Closure 101 Series:

Closure 101 is an interactive course developed by the Jewish Healthcare Foundation to provide education to the public about the often confusing and emotionally charged process of life-limiting illness, advance planning and end-of-life decision making.

Through this course, individuals explore ways for families to plan ahead to ensure that they will experience the end-of-life that they would choose for themselves. Participants will discuss patient-physician communication strategies to better understand medical conditions and prognosis (outlook) for the future. Also included is a review of the process of planning ahead with documents such as advance directives and medical powers of attorney.  Individuals will learn the importance of good communication among patients, physicians, family members and clergy.

The closure series will also cover ways to handle the stress of being a caregiver for someone who is ill or dying and the grief that comes both before and after that person’s death, in a way that can be enriching instead of defeating.
