We offer opportunities for students currently pursuing healthcare programs to gain valuable experience through clinical rotations. Current employees are encouraged to continue personal and professional growth and enhance their skills. A generous tuition assistance program and Career Enrichment Grants are resources available to assist employees in these efforts.
Nursing students who have successfully completed two semesters of clinical may apply for employment as a part-time or casual pool Nurse Extern. A minimum schedule of 24 hours/per bi-weekly pay period is required.
Summer Nurse Extern
Our specialized summer program has been developed to provide nursing students a way to gain valuable experience that will assist in the transitions from nursing student to Registered Nurse. This full-time summer program is offered mid-June to mid-August. On-line applications are accepted each year from November until mid-December. Interviews are conducted in early January and positions are awarded by February. Each student is assigned a registered nurse to shadow and works the same rotating schedule as his or her preceptor.
Graduate nurse opportunities are available on a variety of patient care units. Jefferson Regional offers a highly competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
This is an excellent opportunity for pharmacy students to gain additional exposure to a hospital environment and work while attending class. Students who have successfully completed a minimum of one year of professional study and have a certificate of registration as a pharmacy intern with the State Board of Pharmacy may work part-time and are eligible for up to $3,000 tuition assistance each academic year.
Summer Pharmacy Extern
This ten-week full-time summer program enhances a student's perception of a hospital-based pharmacist duties. Students who have successfully completed a minimum of one year of professional study and have a certificate of registration as a pharmacy intern with the State Board of Pharmacy are eligible to participate.
Critical Care Course
Formal critical care courses are conducted at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. These intensive courses include didactic and clinical experiences. Successful completion of the critical care course prepares a registered nurse for a variety of opportunities in our critical care specialties.
Clinical Practice Ladder
A professional practice program that is designed to reward, recognize and provide a framework for advancement to nurses who choose to remain bedside clinicians.
Full- and part-time regular status employees are eligible for tuition assistance up to $3,000 per academic year to further their education and career development.
Career Enrichment Grants
Funded by the Development Office, a limited number of competitive grants are awarded annually to employees. These grants reflect projects, programs, and educational activities that benefit the employee personally and professionally as well as support the organization's initiatives.
